After months of speculation and constant gossip, American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert has ended his silence. Lambert, featured in the latest edition of Rolling Stone magazine, tells the world...he is gay. Lambert graces the cover of the magazine which hits newsstands Friday, June 12.

In his Rolling Stone interview, Adam Lambert speaks openly about his sexuality, music career, American Idol, Kris Allen, and his psychedelic drug experience that prompted him to audition for the hit television show.
In the interview with Rolling Stone, Lambert describes his early life, and how he knew he was different and not like other boys. "I don't think it should be a surprise for anyone to hear that I'm gay," Lambert says. Adam also says he wanted to open up about his sexuality after the American Idol finale, but wanted to wait for Rolling Stone to approach him because he said it would be "cooler" to come out in that fashion. The glam rocker says he's proud of his sexuality, but don't expect Lambert to lead a civil rights march anytime soon. Adam says his music comes first, and that is the most important thing on his mind in respect to his career. Lambert recently inked a record deal with RCA, and expects to release his debut album this fall.
Many contestants on American Idol credit their parents, spouses, or friends for giving them the motivation and encouragement to audition for the show. However, Adam Lambert found encouragement during a drug experience. Lambert says a drug-fueled experience at the Burning Man arts festival gave him an epiphany...that his time was now. "I realized that we all have our own power, and that whatever I wanted to do, I had to make happen," Lambert says. Adam's strong desire almost paid off in victory, as he made it to the American Idol finale, but was defeated by Arkansas native, Kris Allen.

Just when you thought you'd heard it all, Adam Lambert also reveals that he had a crush on American Idol winner, Kris Allen. Lambert said he found it "distracting" at times to be in the same living quarters with Allen during the show. Adam admits that Kris was his "type" and found him very attractive. Lambert says that Allen is very kind, open, and very supportive of him. When sharing his thoughts on Kris, Lambert was candid and honest. "I was like, 'Oh, sh--, they put me with the cute guy," Lambert said of Allen. "Distracting! He's the one guy I found attractive in the whole group on the show: nice, nonchalant, pretty and totally my type — except that he has a wife. I mean, he's open-minded and liberal, but he's definitely 100 percent straight."

The publicity and appearance roller coaster will continue for Adam Lambert this week. On the same day Rolling Stone magazine hits newsstands, Lambert will be featured on 20/20, at 10 p.m. ET on ABC.
