Adam Shankman Joins SYTYCD Judges' PanelSo You Think You Can Dance Slightly New Look Season Six
Choreographer and director, Adam Shankman will join Mary Murphy and Nigel Lythgoe as a permanent member of the judges' panel of SYTYCD Season Six.
Adam Shankman, choreographer and director has become a permanent fixture on the So You Think You Can Dance platform this season, completing the judges’ panel trio with Mary Murphy and Nigel Lythgoe. SYTYCD - Hosted by Cat DeeleyAs usual the show will be hosted by Cat Deeley one of the leading television presenters in the UK who has cultivated a large US following after five successful seasons hosting So You Think You Can Dance. The sixth season of So You Think You Can Dance premiered on Wednesday, September 9, 2009. For this season, auditions were held in Boston, Atlanta, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Phoenix, and Salt Lake City. No Other Choreographers on Judges PanelWhat makes this a bit different is that Season Six is the first fall season of So You Think You Can Dance, allegedly because of scheduling conflicts. Nigel Lythgoe promises that they are not changing the popular dance show too much, but with Adam Shankman as a resident judge on the panel, it will mean that well known faces like Tabitha and Napoleon, Lil C, Mia Michaels, Tyce Diorio, Sonja, Mandy Moore and the other choreographers will most likely not be sitting on the judges’ panel this year. This might just be a good move as some viewers found certain choreographers too emotional and not subjective enough, but there is no doubt that these highly talented and creative people, celebrities in their own right, added an element of glamour and intensity to the judges panel. Dance as an Art Form – Nigel Lythgoe and Adam Shankman AgreeOn the Fox blog, Nigel Lithgoe talks about his goal to promote dance as an art form and make it entertaining. “To be instrumental in trying to bring that back is absolutely fantastic, and it’s not just in this country. SYTYCD is the number one show in Australia, and the number one show in Canada. It’s a global phenomenon at the moment …” Adam Shankman agrees. "So You Think You Can Dance is one of the most important things to happen in the last decade for the art form,” he says. Shankman, will join the judges’ panel, beginning with the Top 20 performance show Tuesday 27 October 2009.
