The girls learn about action shots and athletic modeling. Gabrielle Reese, pro volleyball player/supermodel, guest stars. Another girl is sent home.
You know it's bad when a reality TV show gets so far under your skin that you dream about it. Well, maybe it's just the melatonin. Weird dreams are a side effect, after all. Anyway, last night, after ANTM aired its new episode, I went to sleep. I dreamt that I was Anchal, the so-called "plus size model" of this cycle. I got in the shower fifteen minutes before elimination and all the girls kept walking in. I used someone's tweezers and got in big trouble for it. (If someone can analyze this, please help me! I obviously could use it.) I had to pay the girl like $50.00 to get her to shut up. Then, I went before panel wearing some oversized orange necklace and 80s-style cable-knit sweater in light blue. It offset my/Anchal's skin tone beautifully. Nigel and Tyra, who were sitting on milk crates, told me that I finally looked like a real model. Hehe! Then, they asked me to jump on a swingset and play a game of tag/musical chairs with the other girls. The last one left standing would be eliminated. Guess what, it was me/Anchal! Of course, that's hardly prophetic. If you've seen last night's episode, you know that Anchal, the lovely Indian girl who was almost too pretty for the show, was sent home. She was having trouble connecting with the other girls, especially Melrose - and she seemed to have given up. Anchal is struggling with her self-esteem. She's put on a few pounds and feels fat. Cry me a river, girl. I'm so sick of the whining this season. The girls return home to the 'model compound' after Brooke's elimination. Melrose mentions that she thought Brooke was going through the biggest "transformation" of all of them. Too bad Tyra couldn't see it. She loves transformations. Jaeda was surprised Brooke was sent packing and says she'll be missed. The girls chit-chat about how they can't wait to be models someday. Melrose, in a private diary room session, tells us that she really wants to win. Wow! I never would've figured that out! She's also ticked off that some girls - namely, Anchal - act like they don't want to be there. She wishes the panel would send "those girls" packing. Me too! Even though the other girls hate Melrose, I like her "passion for fashion". She's a total brat and all that, but the girl totally wants to be there. She deserves to win. She's put her heart and soul into this. I'm not sure what that says about her, but I'm not here to judge anyone. Just watch them. The next days, the girls go off to the beach and put on some bikinis. They're gonna hang with Gabrielle Reese. My husband actually walks into the room and rewinds our DVR a few minutes to make sure catches everything. He is all like, "That way I can help you with your recap, dear." Sure! I believe you, honey! Some of the girls - namely, Anchal - are concerned about hitting a volleyball in a bikini on the beach. Others are jazzed like Jaeda. She played volleyball and is obviously a natural athletic-type model. Thank goodness she found something to be happy about! She was so busy being happy this episode she actually didn't complain about her hair. Yippeee! Back at the house, the girls gab about Anchal. Melrose, the expert, thinks that there are two sides to Anchal. They can't stand the timidity and want her to get on with the competition or get out of it. Okay! We get it, editors! Anchal's going home! Stop beating us over the head with it! Anchal, for her part, talks about how she has no friends in the competition, and she's upset about gaining weight, but when she's stressed out, she eats and...well, she's just so unhappy. Whine! Whine! Whine! It's soooooooooo ugly. Now, we get to the challenge with James St. James and a NASCAR driver who's also a model. (Sometimes, the punch lines are too easy to write! You think of one yourself!) The challenge is pretty tough. The gals have to take their own pics while arguing with a NASCAR driver. Hmmm? How would an argument between a model and a NASCAR driver actually go? I'm on pins and needles just waiting...for someone to fall flat on their face. The winner is Michelle. I'm not sure why. Maybe it's because she jumped on the car and put a dent in the hood with her high-heeled shoe. She gets to chose a few 'friends' for the opportunity to win a $10,000 shopping spree. Michelle picks her twin, Amanda and CariDee. Then, she shocks everyone by choosing Melrose. Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? I'm not sure why, but oh well! Anchal is upset because no one has picked her for anything yet. Poor Anchal! Why not try winning a competition? Melrose ends up taking all the other girls' clothes after a competitive sprint through a high-end, store. Michelle then second-guesses her choice to bring Melrose along. Haha! Now it's time for this week's photo shoot. The ladies arrive at an airport or something. Jay Manuel is there and tells them that this is an action photo shoot which is the girls' first assignment for Covergirl. They're going to be endorsing a whipped foundation product while portraying a sexy space siren. They get put in this anti-gravity chamber that simulates sky-diving. Some 'tecnhician' goes in there to help them out. Most of the girls get whipped around in there. Maybe that's the link between them and the product. It seemed like it was pretty tough. Jay didn't have positive feedback for anyone, not even Melrose. Oh well! Elimination gives the girls a chance to act out an action using a verb and an adverb. Melrose misunderstands what a verb is. She has to "box joyfully" and pretends she's in a box. Stupid! CariDee makes the panel laugh as she does her "hide dizzily" schtick. She's a trip! I love her personality. A few of the girls - namely, Anchal and Michelle - don't put any effort into their performance. This upsets the panel, which is why the gals are in the bottom two. Apparently, Tyra believes a bit more in Michelle's talent than Anchal's beauty and sends the future Miss World contestant home. Finally!
