ANTM Cycle 7, Episode 3 - Recap
Ding-Dong the Wicked B*tch is Dead!
Monique and Melrose continue to fight. The girls have to test their balance in various ways. AJ wins a sweet challenge, and another girl gets sent home, but who?
Okay, y’all! I’ve made it no secret that I hated Monique’s diva-tude. Sure, she’s pretty. Absolutely beautiful. However, her personality is hideous. I don’t think it was bad editing. She’s rude, crude and lewd. I mean who wipes their skanky clothing on someone’s bedcovers, but I’m getting ahead of myself, aren’t I?
Let’s do the recap with some commentary thrown in, okay?
The girls are feeling the pressure of the last elimination. AJ is upset that Megan got sent home. She thinks that Monique or Eugena should’ve left instead. Melrose makes her opinion of Monique, who she continues to tangle with, clear. She can’t stand her – in case you were wondering!
Jaeda, in the meantime, is crying. She was shaken by being in the bottom two and knows that she can’t let a little thing like her short hairdo ruin her chances of being “America’s Next Top Model.” Good for her!
Tyra Mail arrives and the girls learn that their ‘butts are on the line.’ Melrose says that nothing in the competition happens without a reason. Of course, she’s right.
The ladies head on over to an undisclosed locale where Miss Jay is walking on a tightrope. The girls are being shown how to work the tightrope, but not too many of them seem to be getting the hang of it. Melrose and Monique do some sniping at each other in their diary room messages so something is building. I can feel it!
Back at the house, the girls get another Tyra Mail that tells them they will each ‘walk their own line.’ I can hear the Johnny Cash tune in the background of my withered mind. Melrose goes to talk on the phone. Monique tries to interrupt her, and Melrose pushes her narrow a$$ out the door. Later on, Monique tells Eugena, her only confidant in the house, that she’s going to get back at Melrose, and she does in a disgusting way.
Monique takes her bikini bottoms that she recently wore and rubs them over Melrose’s bed while the girl is trying to sleep. Ewwww! Gross! Yuck! Who does that?
Jaeda says she’s scared that Monique will try and harm them while they’re asleep. People are questioning the girl’s sanity. In the AM, the girls head on out. They meet up with Miss Jay who’s rocking a tea-cup dress with heels and a masquerade ball mask. He’s tres chic. He tells the girls that they’re going to be ‘put to the test.’ He then introduces Bre from Cycle 5. She does her walk for them. Then, Miss Jay says they have to walk a straight line on slanted concrete in heels, wearing a mask.
Sounds easy, right? Hehe!
The girls have a hard time with it. Melrose trips up and can’t seem to recover. CariDee looks kooky. Amanda walks a straight line, but she’s not bringing the oomph. Most of the girls manage without much incident. AJ does very well. So well in fact that she is the hands-down winner of the challenge. As her prize, she gets to take two girls – she chooses Megg and CariDee – to Austin, TX. They’re going to be in a runway show hosted by Dennis Quaid with other ANTM alumna.
Brooke is upset that AJ didn’t choose her because Austin’s her hometown, and she so wanted to go home! Austin’s my home currently so I can understand why she’d be homesick.
At the model compound, Monique is suddenly sick. She has a hard time holding anything down. Eugena tries to help her and eventually has her taken to the doctor. Melrose mutter.s something about the negative energy Monique gives off coming back to get her. Monique is dehydrated. She needs rest and fluids. Remember Danielle, the Cycle 6 winner? She was dehydrated too and still went into the jungles of Thailand and rode an elephant…and looked fierce doing it!
Anyway, AJ and crew are in Austin. They are enjoying the runway show. They meet Dennis Quaid and hang out with Rebecca, Mercedes, Camille, Brittany, Coryn and April from past seasons.
In the morning, the girls head out for their photo shoot. AJ, Megg and CariDee hop a plane and catch a limo to the shoot after only a few hours of sleep. Monique isn’t sure she should even go. She’s feeling very ill still. Mr. Jay tells everyone that they’re going to ‘walk on water.’ The runway is on top of a pool. It’s a bit unstable. The girls will be wearing some delicate clothes and have to maintain their composure, their balance and look fantastic doing it.

Monique decides she can’t go through with it, and Mr. Jay sends the driver to take her back to the house.
Most of the girls have serious trouble walking this runway. I can’t blame them. I’d have been in the pool from the get-go. Anchal looks a little like a doe in the headlights. Jaeda almost falls but recovers pretty well. AJ does so well. As she said, she ‘rules the runway.’ CariDee has a Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction. Her boob pops out of the dress.
Eugena falls on the way back. She’s the only one to actually go down. She scrapes up her knee and starts bleeding. However, she does manage to make it down the runway one more time when Jay asks all the girls to do a finale walk.
Back at home, Eugena goes to check on Monique. The rest of the girls say they’d have stayed if they were sick.
Now it’s time for judging. Tyra, Nigel Barker, Twiggy, Miss Jay and Charlie Altuna, the designer and photographer of this week’s shoot, are all there in the hizzouse. The girls have to show their signature walk while balancing a bowl of fruit on their heads.
Brooke drops the bowl and laughs it off, saying, “You make it work!” She’s cute and scores big points with me. Most of the rest of the girls have trouble keeping the bowls on their heads. CariDee was kooky again. She’s sort of the Lucille Ball of the bunch. AJ was ‘zen’ as Nigel Barker said. It was a compliment.
Now, the girls get their individual evals. Eugena, who is told she doesn’t give lots of emotion in her pics, is totally throwing off an angry vibe right about now. She should bring that passion into her photos. The girls are sent off so the judges can deliberate.
They agree that Jaeda showed the most improvement. Anchal isn’t giving enough face. Megg is crazy, but Tyra likes her ‘rock and roll’ attitude. They love Brooke’s hair. She gave it great movement on the runway. As for Monique, they were very upset that she didn’t do the shoot. Miss Jay started singing that she should go home. I felt hope. Yes! Yes! Yes! Will they send her away? Tyra jumped in and started defending the girl.
No! No! No!
Okay! Enough drama! AJ got her pic first. Jaeda was second. CariDee was kept waiting ‘til third from the end. The final two were Eugena and Monique. The judges told Eugena she was by far the worst on the runway, but they felt she wanted this a bit more than Monique, who was using being sick as an excuse. She just didn’t show them the passion they want in a Top Model.
Amen, sistahs! Bye, bye, Monique! This was my favorite elimination of almost any season, by far.
