Best Seller Kathy Griffin Returns to The ViewOfficial Book Club Selection Becomes Best Selling Book
Kathy Griffin returned to The View with her New York Times best selling book. The feisty redhead even showed her Kate is Enough spoof in front of co-host Kate Gosselin.
With two emmys and now a best selling book, Kathy Griffin beamed widely when she returned to The View on September 18, 2009. While Kathy lived up to her reputation for saying anything and everything, she spoke more modestly than on her ratings-winning My Life on the D-List. Kathy couldn't help but to start the appearance by bringing up her long-standing feud with Barbara Walters. It's not so much a feud as it is a celebrity girl-fight in which Kathy publicly dished on a saucy comment Barbara once made backstage. Due to this, Kathy frequently claims she's blacklisted from appearing on The View. Kathy Griffin on The View with Co-Host Kate Gosselin Before the hosts could start the interview, Kathy immediately noticed Barbara's absence. In Barbara's place, Kate Gosselin co-hosted which proved an uncomfortable situation given Kathy's recent Kate is Enough spoof shown on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Maybe this is Barbara's sweet revenge? Kathy told Kate Gosselin that she enjoyed Kate's show and found her fascinating. The hosts then decided to air Kathy's spoof for Kate and everyone to see. Surprisingly, Kate Gosselin took it in stride stating, "I didn't know what to expect and I caught myself cracking up out loud. You're awesome." The discussion then turned toward a question from Joy Behar asking Kathy what she thought of Whitney Houston's recent return to the spotlight. Kathy said, "I found it a little cracky," which caused Sherri Shepherd to defend Whitney by stating she is clean of drugs. Kathy quipped, "And, I will never tell a d*ck joke again." Whoopi lost it after this comment, throwing her head back and belting out a deep laugh. How Did The View Hosts Handle Kathy Griffin's Sharp Tongue? With Kathy Griffin, it's never known what she will say but she always delivers something shocking. The View hosts seemed somewhat taken aback by her straight-forward commentary, however Whoopi enjoyed every word. For Whoopi, it's probably like Christmas and a chance to finally let loose. Joy seemed like she wanted to join in but restrained herself for fear of getting a nasty note from the boss. Sherri looked quiet and withdrawn, like she didn't really care for Kathy. It's possible Sherri Shepherd was once on the receiving end of Kathy's sharp tongue at some point in the past (or will be at some point in the future). Kate Gosselin seemed overwhelmed by co-hosting and periodically flipped through her note cards. However, it looked as though Kate had no hard feelings against Kathy and truly did like her. Kathy Griffin's Official Book Club Selection Tops Best Seller List Kathy proudly announced that her recent book release, Official Book Club Selection, topped the New York Times best selling books in the hardcover nonfiction category. The autobiographical book highlights dramatic issues in her life and includes photos from a near-death plastic surgery experience. The in-your-face comedian shows a more human side in words that she covers through bawdy comedy when in public. While she may have succeeded in returning to The View, Kathy has one higher goal she's yet to achieve. Kathy Griffin hopes to receive Oprah's endorsement and be an Oprah Book Club Selection. It would be amazing to catch Oprah reading Kathy's book while lounging poolside with Gayle, but it's unlikely Oprah will throw her brand behind Kathy's book . And, a Kathy Griffin appearance on Oprah is sadly a bit out of reach. For Kathy, maybe now she can rest easier at night having overcome her feud with Barbara. And, let's not overlook her best selling book, held upright on the shelf by her two emmy bookends. Kathy Griffin is once again on the road to more frequent View appearances. That is, unless Barbara watched from the sidelines.
