Cops Meets Surreal LifeArmed & Famous PremiereJan 11, 2007 Deanna Couras Goodson
The premiere of 'Armed & Famous' was interesting enough. Heck, I didn't think LaToya Jackson could take down not one, but two, bad guys either.
INTRODUCTION:Armed & Famous premiered on CBS Wednesday January 10 at 8pm EST. Trish Stratus, Jack Osborne, Erik Estrada, LaToya Jackson and Jason “Wee-Man” Acuña headed to Muncie, Indiana and went through police training. By the end of the first episode, the ‘celebs’ hit the streets with uniformed police men and women to dispense some justice. HIGHLIGHTS:Trish Stratus proved that she is a tough chick. She opted to be fish-hooked instead of hit with a taser. You could see the pain on her face, but the seven-time WWE Ladies’ Champ didn’t let ‘em see her sweat. Not at all. Later on. Trish played grief counselor to a family that lost their home when their Christmas tree caught fire. LaToya Jackson proved that she’s not just a diva. The singer/author and sister of Janet, Michael, Tito and the rest helped put away two bad dudes without losing her cool. She was awesome! You go, LaToya. Erik “Ponch” Estrada took part in a drug bust. The perp was a 70-something old lady who had the hots for Erik. She flirted with him and kept calling him Ponch. Even Estrada and his pretty blonde-haired partner couldn’t help but laugh. LOWLIGHTS:Wee-Man, that dude from jackass, heads out to party and tells people that they should try to get pulled over in the next few weeks while he’s in town. Awww! How nice! Jack Osborne has a hairy moment when he tries to restrain a perp with crab hands. LaToya talks to her brother, Jackie, and begs him not to tell Mother she’s in Muncie becoming a cop. Oh man! FINAL ANALYSIS:Armed & Famous is a better bet to watch than Cops – and most of the stuff on Wednesday night. Perhaps that’s why it did so well in the ratings. Overall, it’s mildly entertaining. I don’t love it, but I like it well enough to try watching it again.
