Jon & Kate Plus Eight Minus Jon Announces TLCPopular Sextuplet Family Will Return in November Without Jon
TLC announced today that the popular, and often controversial, Jon & Kate Plus 8 will return in November for a new season as Kate Plus Eight, without Jon.
With five seasons as Jon & Kate Plus Eight, TLC announced September 29, 2009 that it would rename the famed show to Kate Plus Eight for new episodes set to air in November. Although Jon Gosselin's name is stricken from the show's title, he will still appear in a few episodes but with much less focus than normal. TLC Announces Jon & Kate Plus Eight Will Return in November Minus Namesake Jon Earlier this year Jon and Kate Gosselin announced a marital riff in which the couple ultimately opted to file for divorce after ten years of marriage. After five seasons of TLC's popular Jon & Kate Plus Eight, new episodes will kick off in November minus Jon. TLC announced it will rename the show to Kate Plus Eight. "Given the recent changes in the family dynamics, it only makes sense for us to refresh and recalibrate the program to keep pace with the family. The family has evolved and we are attempting to evolve with it; we feel that Kate's journey really resonates with our viewers." states Eileen O'Neill, President and GM, TLC. Kate Plus Eight and New Career Opportunities for Kate TLC also makes note that the new show will focus on Kate's role in the family and how she handles her experience in raising eight children, 5 year old sextuplets and 8 year old twins. TLC's President and GM, Eileen O'Neill goes on to say, "Additionally the network is in development on a Kate project for 2010." Recently, Kate Gosselin co-hosted on The View and it's been rumored she's in discussion to create a talk show. The Charlotte Observer reported on a talk Kate gave at the Southern Women's Show in Charlotte, N.C. September 22, 2009 where Kate stated, "I've been given the gift of gab, so why not use it?" In discussing her co-hosting role with The View, Kate commented, "It is sort of like a career move, so I had to do it." Jon Gosselin's Career Path Now That It's Kate Plus Eight While it's not immediately known what Jon Gosselin will do from this point on, his role in the upcoming Kate Plus Eight will be minimal. TLC notes in its press announcement that it retains "exclusive rights" to Jon Gosselin and it remains to be seen whether he will also reap further television career opportunities. Entertainment Weekly announced Jon Gosselin opted out of a new reality show Divorced Dads Club which is rumored to co-star Michael Lohan and Kevin Federline. When Kate Plus Eight returns in November, it will be relaunched to focus on Kate Gosselin's journey in raising eight children as a now single mother. As TLC noted, look for new career developments to occur for Kate in 2010.
