A companion show to Project Runway, Models of the Runway debuts with 16 models hoping to be paired with the winning Project Runway fashion designer. Each week, designers compete in fashion design challenges while their assigned models compete as well. At the end of the season, the model paired with the winning designer gets a fashion spread in Marie Claire magazine.
Models of the Runway gives a behind the scenes look of the models throughout the Project Runway competition. Each week, the designers are given the opportunity to pick a new model. Heidi Klum hosts both shows with her usual perky charm.
The following episode summary contains spoilers, including the which model wins the weekly challenge and which one is eliminated.
Design Challenge Results & Designer Elimination
The episode begins with the Project Runway 6 episode 1 red carpet design elimination where Mitchell is spared while Ari is eliminated. The models gasp backstage and they watch the results unfold. Usually, the model paired with the losing designer is also eliminated.
Ari's 21 year-old model Erika feared elimination this week. Erika reflected on the situation, "You are the model to be made up how the designer sees you. You can complain all you want, but if you don't do your job at the end I don't think you deserve to stay." Ari gave Erika a hug and said goodbye.
Venezuelan model Yosuzi was paired with Mitchel who ended up in the bottom two. His dress came together in 30 minutes and ended up being a sheer caftan.
Heidi invited the models to get dressed and return to the runway. The winning model for this week, Katie won a trip to an Emmy event and was allowed to pick her modeling friend Tara to join her.
The models were then sent to their apartment where they would stay during the competition. As the girls settled in, it was clear there would be clashing personalities. One model worried about theft and revenge in the apartment having heard horror stories about models trying to sabotage one another.
The winning model and her friend visited a celebrity booth for the Emmy awards where they could get free sunglasses, handbags, and shoes. They returned to the apartment with numerous shopping bags and the other models were jealous.
Models of the Runway Model Elimination
Heidi met the fashion designers at the runway and brought out the models. Heidi announced that each designer's name would be drawn and a model selected each week. With 15 designers and 16 models, one model would be eliminated.
Winning designer Christopher started and kept his model Katie. Mitchell had issues with the challenge and blamed his poor performance on his model. He decided to steal Qristyl's model which made Qristyl furious. The model selection continued with each designer keeping their original model.
Nicolas decided to switch it up though and chose a new model, Ebony. Qristyl decided to select Erika, Ari's former model. Shirin had her model taken by Nicolas, so she took his former model, Matar. The remaining designers kept their original designers. Based on the selections, Mitchell's model Yosuzi was eliminated.
Yosuzi wished the designers good luck and said her goodbyes. She felt bitter with how Mitchell made her the scapegoat. Yosuzi didn't get emotional and stated, "I'm ready to move on. I may have been the first one to be eliminated but I'll still be walking the runway for awhile."

One designer creates tension in the apartment with her attitude and potential commercial job. It also becomes apparent that Fatma has a crush on her designer Logan.
Models of the Runway Season 1 airs Thursday on Lifetime at 11PM ET/PT.
