Raro Gets a ‘Message in a Bottle’

Aitu has hit its stride. The 'mutiny' twist injected new life into the team. They've been undefeated ever since. Raro, on the other hand, lost two members this week.

I’m so glad that Jonathan and Candice decided to leave Aitu. Not only did they wake up their former tribe mates, causing them to bond like a family and really play the game hard, they also exposed a ‘white alliance’ that is bound to make things ugly. (At least, that’s what I hope.) I love to root for an underdog and Aitu, with only four members, was one. The tides are a-changin’, of course, but I think I’ll still root for the Aitu tribe mates even after the Merge. (Rumor has it that next week is the week! We’ll have to wait and see, won’t we?)

The truth is that I didn’t care so much about the game before this. I felt “Cook Islands” was getting way too boring. I even contemplated watching “The Office” and “My Name is Earl” instead of just tivo-ing them.

Now, I’m jazzed. I want to see Yul, Ozzy, Sundra and Becky kick Raro butt each week. They haven’t disappointed yet, and all I can see is “YIPPEE!”

I repeat, “Yippee!”

Last night, we got to see more of Raro’s dysfunction. Jonathan seems to be the only dude doing any work over there. He’s only working himself to the bone to keep from being kicked off. He knows he’s the odd man out, but he’s trying to weasel his way into the inner sanctum like the weasel his is.

Nate is not impressed. He doesn’t trust Jonathan but trusts Parvati and Adam. To a lesser degree, this means he puts up with Candice. Candice and Adam have a love thing going on. It’s noticeable. How come no one has figure out that this is a solid alliance? Remember Rob and Amber? H-E-L-L-O!

At the Reward Challenge, Aitu won. Raro didn’t give them much of a run for their money, either. Raro can’t keep it together. They just don’t like each other much. There’s no cohesiveness or something. It’s sort of like watching reruns of my holiday memories. Oops! Feel the PTSD coming on. Where’s my meds?

Aitu got a cool feast with natives of the Cook Islands. There was feasting, dancing and rain. The hot, young lady tribe members made a bee-line for Ozzy. Even disheveled, skinny and smelly, he’s hot. Yul got some action from the more zaftig members of the tribe. They grinded him like they was up in ‘da club’, y’all. It was funny.

Raro was also feasting. Jonathan caught a ton of fish. He’s taking a page from the Ozzy book of “Survivor”, feed the tribe and they’ll keep you. That hasn’t always worked in the past, but I do see that at least he’s playing the game. The rest of the tribe seems to be playing around. I’m not sure what they do all day. Parvati and Nate sit on a log, cuddling. Adam and Candice, when she’s not off on Exile Island, do a fantastic Barbie and Ken impression.

Jenny complains about Rebecca’s work ethic. However, I’ve never seen her contribute that much either. Oh well! What do I know?

The Immunity Challenge was uneventful. Raro messed up. I guess Rebecca made a mistake or something. It wasn’t like the tribe warned her ahead of time not to screw up.

The plan was to let Rebecca go. All were on board except Nate. He wanted to get rid of Jonathan before he sent a Raro home.

At Tribal Council, we see that Nate may be close to Parvati physically, but they’re NOT on the same page game-wise. Rebecca was sent home first. Then, in a twist, Jeff asked the team to open up the bottle they received after losing the Immunity Challenge. Inside the bottle was a note that told the tribe to vote off another member IMMEDIATELY. Jenny joined Brad and Rebecca on the jury.

Nate voted for Jonathan, but he was pretty much alone. Kind of fitting! Unless the Merge happens soon, Nate’s heading to the jury with his other tribe mates. That would pit four members of the original white tribe against the ‘rainbow coalition’ that Aitu is.
