Survivor Tocantins Finale a Nice End to SeasonThe Survivor Season Finale Saw Texan J.T. Walk Away with the Million
The 18th season of Survivor came to an end on May 17th, with a three hour finale in the Brazilian Highlands.
The eighteenth season of the CBS hit show Survivor came to an end on Sunday night with a three hour finale. With four contestants remaining, the show started with two hours of the regular Survivor show format, followed by a one hour reunion show where the $1 million prize was issued. The Winner of Survivor Tocantins With only four contestants left at the beginning of the season finale, it still seemed like a sure bet that the top two would be James Thomas (J.T.) and Stephen Fishbach, who had teams up early on and stuck together. The other two remaining contestants were Taj Johnson-George and Erinn Lobdell. In the first competition between the four, the contestants had to go through a maze constructed in the shape of a tarantula to find puzzle pieces. Then they had to put together a difficult puzzle, with the winner taking home immunity. J.T. just barely beat out Erinn, saving himself, and setting up a vote that sent Taj home. Then in the following competition, J.T. won again, saving Stephen and sending home Erinn. With Stephen and J.T. in the final tribal council, it let the jury finally have a chance to say their piece, and they ended up providing quite a lot of drama. When all was said and done though, J.T. won the million dollars with a unanimous vote of the jury. It was a heavily one sided vote, but really showed the popularity that J.T. had gained during the season. That left Stephen with the second place prize, which wasn’t too shabby either. Survivor Fan Favorite Gets $100,000 It has become a common practice for Survivor to award a cash prize to whomever turns out to be the most popular contestant of the season, usually letting the fans decide by vote who should take him home. This season Sprint sponsored a $100,000 prize to whomever the fans decided to vote as the most deserving of winning the show. As may have already been expected by people watching the show this season, the cash prize went to J.T., increasing his haul from the night another cool $100,000. Survivor Season 19 Next season Survivor will be heading to the South Pacific for the 19th season, and it will all take place in the islands of Samoa. The first scenes of wildlife and the area look beautiful, and could make this a really great season to watch Survivor. Survivor Samoa will be coming to CBS in the fall, and should prove to be very exciting.
