Top Chef is a tasty, spicy blend of drama and food. It’s more challenging than Hell’s Kitchen and more entertaining. This season, the show got a new hostess – the lovely Padma Lakshmi (Did you know that she’s Salman Rushdie’s missus?) – and a new attitude.
The show has been a hit with Bravo viewers. It’s actually the number one rated food series in all of cable TV. (Take that Rachael Ray and Emeril Lagasse!) According to this press release, Laura Zalaznick, the network’s president, had this to say:
"The second season of 'Top Chef' has outperformed even our highest expectations both in ratings and the quality of this non-fictional competitive drama," said Zalaznick. "We look forward to discovering another group of culinary talents with the same passion for food and cooking with commanding personalities that make 'Top Chef' a must see every Wednesday night."
Top Chef 2 has increased its viewership by over 56% from the first cycle of the series. That’s impressive.
Casting for third cycle begins on January 14 in Dallas, TX. The series will also head off to Miami (Jan. 21), New York (Jan. 21), Las Vegas (TBA), Los Angeles (TBA) and San Francisco (TBA). See Bravo Casting for more information and an application.
