Reality New Briefs - 11/5/05

  • Flavor of Love is getting a second spin-off. As if the series with New York looking for a new lover wasn't enough, Vh-1 is going to milk the Flavor cash cow for all it's worth with a show entitled "Charm School." (Y'all know the punchlines just about write themselves here, right?) Comedian Mo'Nique takes 13 alumna from the two season of "Flavor of Love" and tries to teach them about manners and such. The winner gets the title of "Charm School Queen". (Oh man! Must resist the urge to insult these girls! Must!)
  • "America's Next Top Model: Cycle 8", begins production next week without story editors. Apparently, union officials want to organize employees on reality TV and seem to be using ANTM as the show that will start the ball rolling. It's all a little confusing to me. Here's an article from the Hollywoodreporter that explains it better!
  • As the Edmonton Sun reports, "Canada's Top Model" is getting a new host. Oh yes! Jay Manuel, who rose to fame on "America's Top Model" and has his own series on the Style Network called "Style her Famous", is replacing Tricia Helfer as host of CNTM. He says that he wants the girls to "bring the fire" and hopes to inject some good, old-fashioned American style drama to the series. Manuel is a Toronto native, so it's all good!
  • Tori Spelling's show "So NoTORIous" didn't do so well. Guess people didn't like seeing her fictionalize and make fun of herself. We'd rather do it, right? Well, Tori and her hubby, Dean McDermott will be filming a reality TV series for the Oxygen network. Oh joy! Yet another reality TV series I don't want to watch!
