We're 4 weeks into the new season of The Biggest Loser. This season started off with a very interesting idea. Fifty contestants! One from each state! Alas, it wasn't going to stay that way. The trainers immediately selected 14 from the 50 to compete at the ranch. The remaining 36 were still in the game, just not on the show. They would document their weight loss from home, and the man and woman who had the most weight loss would both come back to the ranch to participate in the final few episodes.
Is that fair? The contestants at the ranch have the attention of a trainer who also acts as a nutritional counselor, not to mention the fact that they have all day to exercise. The people at home are doing it on their own and still have jobs to go to.
However, it actually may be to their advantage that they are doing this in the "real world". When they show updates on some of the 36 "at home" contestants, and then updates on eliminated "ranch" contestants, the "at home" people seem to be having more success.
Is anyone else watching? What do you think of this season so far? Me, I don't really like the red team.

Thanks for posting!

Actually, from what I've seen in the updates, the at-home contestants are doing better than the ones at the ranch. Especially the ones who were eliminated and sent home. I've seen several who have struggled with their weight since going home. If you check out the Biggest Loser website, you can see the progress of the at home contestants as well and they are losing more weight.
This season, the women in particular are struggling. I remember in the first season, some of the women were losing weight in double digit amounts. This season, a woman gets high praise for losing 5 pounds.
The most recent evictee, Ken, has done the best of the ousted contestants so far. He's lost an additional 70 pounds, which brings his total to 138 pounds! He's even gotten his wife into it and she's lost 50 pounds since he went home!
Next week the teams are broken up into pairs and the top man and women of the at-home contestants are re-joining the show.
